The Champions League return on August 7th, 2020

The European Football Federation (UEFA) today June 17 decides the Champions League will play back from August 7th with the remaining matches of the 1/8 round.

The remaining four matches of the 1/8 round will take place on August 7 and August 8. They are matches Juventus – Lyon, Man City – Real Madrid, Bayern – Chelsea and Barca – Napoli.

From the quarterfinals onwards, as many sources have leaked recently, UEFA chose to play a knockout match, and decided to gather the teams to focus on kicking in Lisbon, Portugal, on the fields of Da Luz and José.

Accordingly, four quarter-finals took place on 12, 13, 14 and 15/8. The two semi-finals are played on August 18 and 19. The final took place on Da Luz Stadium on 23/8. All of these matches were played on the field without an audience.

If a match is drawn in two extra innings, the two teams will decide to win or lose by extra time and penalty shootouts. The quarter-final draw and the Champions League semi-final will take place on July 10 at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Champions League has stalled since 11/3, when it has just played half of the matches on the round of 1/8. Already PSG, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig won tickets to the quarterfinals.

In the four pairs of unfinished matches, after the first leg, Real and Chelsea were the most disadvantageous, in turn losing to Man City 1-2 and Bayern 0-3 at home. Juventus lost 0-1 at Lyon on February 26, the day after Barca drew 0-0 at Napoli.

The Europa League has also been adjusted to the schedule and plan of organization in the same manner. Accordingly, from the quarterfinals onwards, the teams will play in a knock-out format, focusing on playing in Germany, in four cities Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen, from 10/8 to 21/8.

These 1/8 round playgrounds will take place on August 5 and August 6. Matches at this stage will be delayed as Inter – Getafe and Sevilla – Roma will play on a neutral ground.

The quarter-finals will be played on August 10 and 11, and semi-finals on August 16 and 17. The Europa League final takes place on Cologne on 21/8, at 21h local time, or 3h on 22/8
