The European Football Confederation (UEFA) is planning to host the remaining matches in the Champions League season of 2019/20 concentrated in one city, but Barca, Juventus and Man City firmly oppose.
Barca and 3 other teams disagree with UEFA about the Champions League
The Covid-19 pandemic caused the Champions League and Europa League to be pushed back indefinitely. UEFA wants to complete both tournaments after the domestic leagues are over. As expected, the two biggest European football leagues at club level will be back in early August.
Barca wants to receive Napoli in the second leg of the round of C1 C1 at home
According to the host, Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey hosted the Champions League final this season. However, the Covid-19 pandemic is making the organization in this field extremely precarious.
Specifically, the city of Istanbul is expected to be severely lost because the organization on the field has no audience, and visitors will not be able to visit Turkey at that time because there is still a travel ban to prevent the spread of disease.
Facing the above situation, UEFA has considered the alternative plans. The agency is planning from the quarterfinals onwards the matches will play concentrated in a city and Lisbon is rated as the most potential.
Portugal’s corona virus infection rate is low and has allowed football to return. Germany could also be the venue for the remaining matches in the Champions League this season.
However, Barca, Juventus, Man City and Bayern Munich disagree with the plans from UEFA. These 4 teams insisted on playing the second leg of the 1/8 round of the Champions League at home, they accepted to play on the stadium without an audience.
Currently, the match between Man City vs Real Madrid, Barca vs Napoli, Juventus vs Lyon and Bayern Munich vs Chelsea has not taken place the second leg of the round of 1/8.
